Vision is the defining feature of museums. Curators and designers strategically manipulate an object’s display to affect their visitors’ perception, magnifying some features while diminishing others. This exhibit provokes visitors to consider the role of the curator between the artist and the viewer through the exhibition of objects, unfinished works, tools, and photographs from the Ivory Coast. Collected by Lam Museum staff from art workshops throughout the West African nation, these objects challenge what it means to be seen.
