painting of Buddhist iconography

Thangkas are a traditional form of Himalayan painting associated with Vajrayana Buddhism. In addition to their visual aesthetics, they support meditation, teaching, and ritual practice. Most Thangkas depict Buddhist figures such as Siddhartha Gautama (the founder of Buddhism), spiritual teachers, and protective deities. These figures are depicted in historical scenes, cosmological diagrams, or geometric compositions called mandalas. This student-curated mini-exhibit will introduce visitors to the art of Thangkas and mandalas highlighting the living tradition reflected in these artworks.
