Skulls

Our ancient ancestors first diverged from other primates around 7 million years ago. This student-curated exhibit features fossil models, images, and reconstructions to tell the story of how human beings developed into the most unique species on the planet.  The focus is not on the things we already know about human evolution, but on the “hot topics” still be investigated. The newest version of this recurring exhibit examines topics including including how fossilized bones and artifacts hold clues about how ancient hominins walked, climbed, gave birth, hunted, created tools, and adapted to new environments.

A 2021 version of this exhibit is available virtually. Click here to explore!
A previous version was also on display from January 9, 2018 to February 2, 2019.
